Hello. I'm looking for a diode to replace the 1N5822( www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/1N5820-D.PDF ) diode in an HBridge using L298N IC.
Can I replace it with BY228 ( www.ee.latrobe.edu.au/internal/workshop/store/pdf/BY228.pdf ) ?

Why don't you replace it with a 1N5822?
Were you wanting to change it with something else?
-
Yes, I want to use BY228 because local shops don't have the 1N5822 in stock anymore.

1N5822 is a 3A 40V Schottky Rectifier
BY228 is a 'flyback damper diode'
If you can't order it online, then replace it with one of similar specs if the circuit can tolerate any differences.
I'm not keen enough with electronics to know the fine details of these diodes. I suggest look for datasheets.
