Hello my name is Tom And I love To Build Big Robots

Where are all the battle bot guys and the big robot builders ? lets get some retro stuff going on here. I'm building a  I think a big robot in the base stage wheelchair motors geared for torque And a very unique steering setup weighing in at the moment about 150 lbs with batteries for just the base I'm in the control phase at this point check it out at my squidoo lens http://www.squidoo.com/diy-robots- Comment over there please tell me how i'm doing I'm not trying to sell anything just want to share

I haven't decided Yet Just building a big and powerful base First . But maybe shoot basketball or kick field goals in football Still working out the controls And steering.

That looks powerful! wish i got my hands on some of those motors  I want to make a strong and powerful base to help carry heavy things around, it would follow my body heat 

Though I'm sticking with smaller and cheaper projects for now.

You can get your hands on these motors on ebay under electric wheelchair motors these are Merit Cart Motors and I only paid $50.00 for the pair very strong but the reason I got them so cheap is they had no wheels with them that was just fine because I wanted to trade speed for torque with sprockets and chain Rather than reduce power electronics  More power and more torque I have 2 more sets of gears and chain in stock

I think I have About $500.00 In this base so far of course not included is the hours and hours of labor but us robot builders never count hours of passion its just what we do.

I haven't done any tests for battery life yet because I'm in the control phase but @ 150 lbs
I am still well under the weight of the cart originally designed for these motors minus the speed control electronics witch is a plus for me I have on board 2 deep cycle gels wheelchair batteries small but strong so I estimate 4 hrs minimum check out the retro servo micro switch relays this runs on tell me what you think
