Hi,

So I am about to order a PCB from a manufacturer, but they need the file format to be Gerber RS274X.
Could anyone suggest a good program that can export to this format?
Thanks

I have been playing around with the Diptrace software and have had some luck with it.
http://www.diptrace.com/, I have also used the Viewmate software (http://www.pentalogix.com/) to double check things before I sent the Gerber files off to pcfabexpress...

Hi,

Around 10..12 years ago, a converter for EE-CAD formats named Ratsnest or Ratsnets was being developed, but since their constant update emails got to a level that were very spam-like, i only followed it for a year or two, until my pain threshold was reached.

I don't know if it's still out there, but it could convert between a zillion formats. Unfortunately it was far from free, beyond the betas.

I never had any real use for it though and this is more for information, in case anyone should want something like that.
Regards,
Søren

You may want to try Eagle CAD. Depending on just what you are doing it can be either free, or quite inexpensive. You can download it here, and I've been pretty happy with it:

and I sent the company you mentioned the files to double check them.
But they said that the files didn't contain a drill layer???
Even tough I'm sure I selected the option for drill layer.
They did add a drill layer, but they sent it back in a different format,
How can I add the drill layer, or how can i check when i export it, if it has it, is there a free Gerber RS274X viewing program?

Yeah i forgot that, I'd better be more careful next time :P
and also, turns out for some reason hole layer was not selected, so that also may have been a problem.

Thanks
