Servo Modifying 50$ Robot help
« on: June 14, 2009, 02:03:21 PM »
Hello I am new here and have had good luck making the microntroller, but am a little confsued on modfying the servo. When I downloaded the hex file and put it on the microcontroller, I run it and it makes the servo turn at some angle, and I thought it was supposed to set it to zero position. I have the standard HiTec HS-311 and the turning wheel on the outside is numbered with 1 2 3 and 4 seperated by 90 degrees, and when the microcontroller sends the signal, it turns where the 1 is about 25 degrees from being aligned with the servo. Is this really the zero position or did i do something wrong?

does it turn to a position then stop?
if it turns then you turn it away will it spin back again? it should.

yeah u know I think i got it...  Im not sure why the "zero position" is at an angle like that but that is it because I took it apart and when the pot is at that angle it doesn't the gears don't move. I hvae one more questoin though, Why do we want to glue the pot when the gears Don't move? won't that make the gears never move?

well, the pot is very sensitive so even some small vibrations could set it off thus making you have to re-modify it.
we just like to put some glue down incase...

no, the pot is no longer able to move any of the gears as you took out the rectangle bit in the bottom of the shaft that connects the two.
