first robot help

help!!

i got this sweet tank from a secondhand store and when i opened it up i got scared! it had some sweet gears. anyway it didn't come with a remote so i was wondering i've been reading up on topics and came accross one that looks like what i would like to do. it is called RC tank by polar bear6 he talks about useing servo circuit bords to run motors. it has 3 motors in it but i only need to have two move. the motors run off of a costom 9.6 NiCd recargable battery. so what i am asking is if the servo circut bords work with these motors

hi i am looking to hook up indifferential drive to my r/c tank chasi it came with two 9.6 volt motors. so i was wondering what speed conrollers are best for this.

P.S. i'm on a buget

Probably not. The servo circuit boards don't go above ~6 or 7V. Depends on what voltage you want to run your motors at. Why not just use the motor driver in your tank?

I think you meant so say differential drive.

'indifferential drive' means your robot doesn't care where it goes :P

eeehhhhh we would need more info on your motors and what you plan to do with them to answer those questions . . .

Then just use the same motor controllers, too.

So if you want to make it a robot, yes, you need a microcontroller to control the motor controllers.

just get a receiver and transmitter designed for land use, and a couple ESC (electronic speed controllers)
Problems making the $50 robot circuit board?

i got this sweet r/c from goodwill. i took out the reciver ( it didn't have a contoler ) and i hooked it up dirrectly so it just goes straight. i tried hooking up 2 photocells one for each side but it wouldn't respond. i know the motors are good because i had them running but i can't figure out what is wrong.

P.S. i don't want to use a microcontroller!

use a microcontroller - if you want to get into robotics that is the way to go.

or you can use something called a comparator. search the forum and google for info about them.

P.S. Microcontroller will be needed eventually!
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!
