Robot Tourism Anyone?
« on: February 05, 2010, 06:31:12 PM »
As you may have already guessed I'm from Hawaii, which, while its great for surfing, is not the great for robotics parts etc.. Anyway I just landed on the US mainland an I'm wondering if there's anythinfg worth seeing before I leave. Are the any electronics/hobby/robotics stores or shows that are worth seeing?

Woot! Florida!  (That's where I live)

Around here, I'm not aware of much.

University of centeral florida may have some cool stuff. I'm in the panhandle. University fo West Florida has a UAV project going I think. Might be able to get on that campus and find the guys working on it and talk to them a bit. I saw them at a BEST competition but never got into touch with them again. Other then that nothing I can think of or I would have seen it... Unless you got top secret clearance there are probably some cool robotics related things on the bases but yah the shoot people who sneak around over there.

Really? Me too. I work at one of those bases with the top secret stuff, in Panama City Beach. Where are you?

If you make it to MA, swing by the MIT museum. They have some really neat stuff there.

There isn't much to check out on the campus unless you know someone.

The museum is right on Mass ave not too far from the campus. They have a whole area dedicated to AI/robotics that is definitely worth checking out.
