Using Arduino as a hardware programmer

You have an Arduino? Did you know you can use it to program the bootloader (and even any hex file) to another microcontroller? All you need to do is load a sketch in your Arduino, make the connections, chose your target chip and use the "Arduino as AVRISP" option in the Burn Bootloader menu. i seem to recall this was on hackaday but still that's an awesome find! it would be very useful if you simply wanted to solder an AVR micro into your project as apposed to sticking a $30 arduino.
