Two L298 in parallel
« on: October 12, 2010, 01:25:23 PM »
Hello, I was wondering if I could make a 4-5amp h-bridge by  putting 2-3 L298s in parallel,
I have a couple of them lying around.
I have searched google but could not find a informative answer.

Also could you recommend a good heatsink for my L298.
Thank you.
Before you insult someone walk a mile in their shoes. Then your a mile away from them, and have their shoes.

I believe you can, though i haven't tried it, it should work
also if you only need 4A amps than you can parallel the two half bridges so instead of 2A max you will get 4A
so if you parallel two L298's than you will get 6 or 8 A
Here is the datasheet: http://www.st.com/stonline/books/pdf/docs/1773.pdf
that shows you how to get the 4A max. (page 7)
About the heatsinks i don't know, but as far as i know you won't need it, unless it's really pushing the current limit.
