Servo + Controller
« on: January 18, 2011, 05:32:13 PM »
Does anyone know of any kits that would have 2 servos and a controller that would be easy to interface with a PIC? The servos I'm looking for would need torque in the range of 01 to 0.2Nm with an unloaded operating speed of about 0.15 sec/60 degrees.

Something similar to these http://cgi.ebay.ca/2x-Airplane-Boat-Car-Digital-Servo-MG995-Futaba-Y307-/250758221914?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a625ad05a except with a controller included. Any links to controllers that would work with these servos and the PIC would also be useful.

Thanks!

A PIC can directly interface to a Servo's input pin. You only need to write PIC code to output a 1 to 2ms pulse every 20ms. The PIC would be the 'controller'.
There are a number of code examples on the web. A good google search term is "PIC servo control".

All of the motor drive circuits are contained within the servo so there isn't any external drive requirements.

Go to the "Robot Tutorials" in the above title bar (top of this page) and type "servo" into the search box. There are a number of nice tutorials and articles about servos, how they work and how to use them.
