Looking for CCD sensor (best with optics)
« on: February 05, 2011, 06:36:07 AM »
As the title suggests I'm looking for a CCD sensor, or optic sensor or whatever you like to call it...

I want to connect the sensor to an ARM device and try doing some basic image processing...

So... no ready solutions, no nothing... only the IC and the optics accommodating it...
Anything around 30fps, colored and with a max resolution of 1.3mpixel is acceptable...

My biggest problem is from where should I buy such sensors... I didn't find any on Mouser or digikey... Maybe I'm giving wrong search parameters...

Any help or suggestion is welcomed...

Thanks in advance, Lefteris

In case anyone interested I have asked around and have find some things...

Here's a talk at AVR Freaks (Freaks never disappoint even if you ask the most weird question)...
http://www.avrfreaks.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=103053

And here's the product I'm leaning to buy...
http://cgi.ebay.com/1-3-Mega-pixel-Camera-Module-MT9M111-high-qualit-lens-/280537346934?pt=BI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools&hash=item4151543376

I also have seen that Sparkfun has some CCD sensors, but nowhere near the lens quality....
From the talk at Sparkfun, the guy also told me that they're very well documented too...
And keeping in mind the bad comments about some of the sparkfun products here in the forum, I'll add a +1 to buying the
ebay camera module...

Also many sensors come in ball grid array making almost impossible to make a board myself... so for this time, module is to be preferred...

And that's all... If you have anything else in mind please don't hesitate...

Thanks in advance, I'll probable start a new topic and keep you informed about the whole going ;-)
