Info on Romeo motor driver needed

Ok, I've read the manual, and looked for as much info on this as I can, but I just dont seem to be able to determine whether the quoted 2A for the motor control is for each motor, or total, ie, 1A per motor??

Could someone inthe know shed some light on this for me, as I've just ordered 2X 1.7A stalled gearmotors, and would like to know if I need to cancel the order, or whether these will be ok to use!  :-\

The driver it's using appears to be the surface-mount version of the L298, which has 2A/channel current capability.  However, it does not have a heatsink, so the true maximum current will be lower than the spec sheet's 4A.

Many thanks for clarifying that for me!!

These motors are 12v, but I will more than likely be running them at either 7.2v, or 9.6v....

...so with a no load rating of 100mA - max efficiency of 350mA - stall of 1.7A, can I safely get away with using these motors, or should I be looking at something different??
