Noob Question About Soldering Three things Together?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if I need any special connectors to power two things. Its hard to explain, but heres the example of what I need to know.  I am powering a camera and the Axon II separately through a DC-DC converter.  Would I just solder the three wires together at one point or do I need Y harness?   I need to transfer 12 volts to both the Axon II and the camera.

Yes, you could just solder together the three 'positive' wires from the camera, Axon and power supply and also the three 'negative' (ground or common) wires together. This works reliably but then its hard to disconnect any of the units.

Or, you could solder two connectors onto the power supply leads (or make a 'Y' harness') and mating connectors on the Axon and camera. Just ensure that you never plug them in backwards or use a connector type that is keyed to prevent this.

Ok than you Waltr.  I'm going to go with your idea of soldering on some connectors.
