A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

No You don't. But the again, different brand can be a bit different, so You have to understand how to overcome that.

Hi,

Different brand of resistors, caps and such won't matter. Different brand of eg. microcontroller might be tricky  ;)
