If you are experimenting with something you have never done before, I'd use the safer batteries.
Once you know your ideas and circuit works (ie no shorts, or no 'dumb' mistakes), then you can always upgrade later.
You can get a decent NiMH battery for just $15 including shipping.
I wonder if you can buy some type of clip to attach wires to that lipo . . . kind of like a battery holder . . . something for you to search for . . .
