HELLO
I am on my way in making my first robot and so i want something that is not that complicated like a robot w/out microcontrollers. I found the info on the net robotroom.com of david cook. There is no exact info I can use, like no specific parts and step by step instructions. Another one is there is no circuit schematic diagram. And also, I need this for our requirement before graduation in our physics class. It is due on February 07, 2008.

Any help will be much appreciated...

It's all in his first book, Robot Building
for Beginners.
Check out the uBotino robot controller!

I just bought that as an ebook (pdf) from apress.com.
Check it out, it's worth it for $15 (cheaper than amazon).

if u want to make a robot without a microcontroller why not check out the $40 dollar robot tutorial on this site (i don't think it needs an mcu) also, if u r having difficulty coming up with $15 dollars for an e-book you are probably going to find it hard to come up with enough money for a robot

I can't afford a $15 book because I have many requirements 2 submit b4 graduation and my money isn't dat many 2 include d book.

According 2 my research of the sandwich robot, dis r d parts:
2 1k Resistors
4 150ohm Resistors
2 20k Trimpots
3 1N5818 Diodes
1 LM393 Op-Amp
2 2N2907 Transistors
8 High Intensity LEDs
1 Power Switch
1 330µF Electrolytic Capacitor
1 0.1µF Capacitor
4 CDS Cells
1 SWT7 Dark/Light sensor config switch
4 #2-56 x 3/4" Bolts and Nuts for mounting
1 8-Pin Dip IC Carrier
1 SandPCB - Sandwich PCB
2 Gear Motors
2 Gear Motor Plastic Wheels

If u'll buy a kit on d net, it will cost u $75. But in hir, in the philippines, d parts r only $20. The problem is I do not know how to do it.

So pls, i need ur help about dis...

listen rose

the sandwich robot is just a line follower robot using comparators , search for schematics for those type of lien followers

I would still be doing sandwich robot, i just need to study some of the information I've gathered n given by some of you out there...

But I have another problem, the circuit board. How can I make a point to point wiring? Because I'm pretty sure I can etched at dis tum, I don't have any background about it.

Again, I'm asking 4 Ur help about other things I needed to know 2 build dis robot before d submission on Feb 6. Please help! If there is someone who can give me ALL the names of the parts needed and d full step by step intructions, I WILL APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH! I AWE YOU MY GRADUATION! THANKS!!!

I say go with the $40 robot as I don't think anyone on this site has done sandwich bot. I think it is highly unlikely that u will be able to get sandwich bot done before february 7th because it is not documented well.

yeah. unless you HAVE to do the sandwich robot for some reason or another i would go $40 robot as it is well documented and i am sure you can do it before the due date.

yes i would say it would be able to make sharpish turns but it might be a bit slow. as for a spiral it should get around that quite easily but just dont put the lines to close to each other because it can sometimes jump them.

hmm that might be hard.. i think the easiest way would be to put some sort of switch in beween a cheap 128mb mp3 player and some sort of trigger. maybe a break in the line? that would be wiked tho :) anyways i have done this before with a line follower and thats what i did. but i didnt have the knowledge i had today and i broke everything  >:( oh well...good luck

first of all is to actually measure the wheels so that you can figure out if they are in fact big enough. to do this i would:

1. find out how far away the bottom of your wheels will be from the bottom part of the chassis (to be more accurate, do this mathematically instead of guestimation)

2. take that and minus the height of any objects under the chassis then the number left over is approximately the maximum height of an object you can drive over (as long as the objects' length is less than or equal to the length of the robot, otherwise it will just drive up it at an angle and it doesn't matter) i.e. rock, speed bump

3. funny third thing (yet to be implemented)  :P

if any of this is wrong pls tell me and i am srry but it is late  :P
