Up till now I was breadboarding everything, but now I am taking a class on electronics design and fabrication. We are etching our boards, and I am almost done soldering all the components on, and I am getting ready for one more order from digikey. I need 3 and 4 pin female connectors to connect my headers. I looked at the catalog and there are about a million different type of .100 female connectors, and some of the crimping tools are really expensive ($240!!!) Are female IDCs ok? Anyone have preferences?
