Parts recommendation
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:36:20 AM »
Hey everyone,

I'm ordering a series of parts from America in teh next few weeks and I was wondering if you can see any crucial robot-building electronic essentials that I have missed in what I'm planning on ordering

- Axon Microcontroller
- 2-3 Sharp Rangefinder (10cm - 1m; cant remember product number) + connector cables
- Several servos and DC motors
- a few Motor Drivers
- ATmega8 or 168 and a programmer

Also if someone can recommend good US stores for servos/DC motors that would be awesome.

I have basic electronics stuff resisters, caps pots etc but I just want to see if there is anything which I forgot and might need!

Thanks for the help,
Awally88

Are hobby batteries easy to get overseas? if not definitely batteries (nicad, nimh, lipo).

also it seems servocity.com has the best selection of servos.

also maybe something for uart. (usb -> TTL, or bluetooth->TTL) from sparkfun.com

sonar sensors, wheels, serial LCD , switches , molex connectors , LEDs , breadboard, perf board, umm thats off the top of my head

check out surplus to see if they have the parts you need , its much cheaper there
some stores I prefer :

Servocity.com           servos
AllElectronics.com      surplus electronics
ElectronicsGoldmine.com  surplus electronics
All-Battery.com         batteries
Sparkfun.com           electronics stuff
Pololu.com               motors, casters
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!
