Multiple electric devices, one battery

Hello Everyone,
I hope this is the right forum to post my question. I would like to know if it is possible to power multiple electric devices with a single battery. For instance, powering two or more motors plus other electric devices that a robot needs, with the same battery.  Where can I find out how to do this if it is in fact possible? I'm wondering if there are adapters out there that would allow many devices to be hooked up to the same battery. Please leave a comment or two and let me know whether you think it is possible. I have searched for the answers to this question on the net but have yet to find any, guess I'll keep on looking. Thank you in advance for your time.

Theoretically you could power infinite loads off a single battery... but in practice one battery can only deliver so much current. You're going to have to see the total current requirements of what you want hooked up to your battery and make sure the battery can deliver more than that... as for how to hook up multiple loads...  just hook the + of the battery to the + of the load and the - likewise =) This is known as connections in parallel, which is what you sound like you want.

Thanks for responding, however I did not get the response I was looking for and that is partly my fault. When I said that I wanted to hook up many devices to the same battery what I meant was hooking devices which might require different amount of power to the same battery. I understand the part about parallel connection, but that only works if all of the devices require the same amount of power. However, if you have many devices each needing different amount of power than its neighbor then you would need to increase or decrease the input. That is the part I don't know too much about.

Voltage is not the same as power.  Are you talking about devices that require different ammounts of power or devices that require different voltages?

Hi Ben,

I meant to say voltage instead of power. I've read that the different devices would need a converter to step up or down a voltage to make it suitable for them. I just don't know how I would use a converter to do that as I've never hooked a bunch of different devices to a single battery before.
