PC Based Vacuum Robotic Cleaner

Any one can help me..i buy ATMEGA8 and IR sensor.....help me how to define the pin of microcontroller.And which one pin that i should put in my microcontroller.

i have found the way to build a robot with 50$...but if i want change the photoresistor with IR sensor...which pin shoud i put in my ATMEGA8....
