A white line following robot

HELLO
I have to build a robot which can follow white line on a black surface and can detect mirror along its path.It sholud be fast and efficient
I am a complete beginner and I would need complete help on building this ROBOT....

you are looking at atleast a month of experimenting with basic components so you understand what you are doing before you are ready to start making a robot mate.
