RF circuit to control the position of a servo motor

hi,

I am building a nitro-engine powered monster truck. to control the throttle and steering mechanism, i need to use a servo motor. i have heard that a servo motor needs a particular type of modulated signal to control its position. how can i build an RF transmitter-receiver circuit  to provide the particular pulse. my end product should have a spring throttle control where i can rotate the wheel and accordingly the servo motor should rotate. are there any circuits to suit my needs.... please help me...

You can by RC transmitters/receivers for less than $20 on eBay. No sense in making your own when you can buy one that works even better than a home-made radio system.

yeah thats a good idea. but i like to build one myself. i had this crazy idea of customizing my build so that i can have  an edge over the other racers, who would have bought one.  ;)

Sure you can build it yourself... if you willing to implemet a scheme I provided below. But you will not get any advantage over other racers. You will get disadvantage. Modern RFs for RC Toys are way more complicated than the one below, they have lots of noise-reducing stuff and other...
Waste of time and resources building one yourself...

Thankyou for the circuit..... i will try implementing it. if i have problem with noise, then i think i have to go for a ready made one....

do you have any experience with microcontrollers?
if you do then a simpler method would be a pair of microcontrollers connected to a ready made RF pair.
