need loads of help on $50 robot

hi every on i have come across a big problem on the $50 robot.

i have notest that the guy says to get only one row of 28 pin mail headers when he uses allot more than 28.
so me and my dad tyred to fix it to how we needed it. I emailed a guy asking if it is was OK for what we did and i sent him some picks. when he replayed i had a nother look at the images of the $50 robot and notest that he does actually use the other side of headers for the light photo resisters.

so my question is. is it OK what i have done i have only put 3x5 mail pins on the one side of the dip socket where all the other things go and i have put 2x5 pins where he said to put for the programmer cable. and i am only using 2 servos and the light resistors so that = 3x3 pins.

comon people plz i realy need to know if i have to buy more headers but i would prefer to not buy any more headers

You have only soldered on the programming header, and the unregulated pins which are only good for servos, you didnt solder any pins that break out your ADC which is used to plug your sensors into!!!

oh and you soldered on your socket upside down. the divot should be on the other side


edit:  you can just ignore the divot on the socket I guess, but make sure the divot on your chip goes on the opposite side

always remember to buy like 5 of everything when it comes to electronic components.

Some will break, fry, or hey you just might even want to make another circuit some day

see here, every pin that starts with a P (PB, PC, and PD) etc... can be broken out with the head pins and power busses




make sure you read your datasheets and get to know your parts, especially your microcontroller!!

Strydom, as I mentioned in the emails, you need at least 2x3 pins on each side. 2 pins on the left(directly under the capacitor) are where you hook up the servos. The other two 2x3 headers on the other side are where you plug in your 2 photoresistor "eyes".

Buy (or get samples of) headers right now - they are very useful in robots and you don't want to run out of them.

I just bought 120(three 1x40) headers with my most recent AllElectronics order $0.60 for one 1x40 segment. They also have 3x38's and 2x40's. Im thinking of buying some of those too lol
