bot help
« on: January 30, 2009, 01:36:18 PM »
I build the headbot from the "junkbots, bugbots & bots on wheels"book, but it only seems to work
when i touch the power or enable line of the circuit with my finger, Why?

Why is it that If i touch the enable or ground connection it works but if i dont touch it, it doesnt?

I don't have the book otherwise I might be able to help. Do they have the plans for this online anywhere?

Maybe, its not grounded to the battery and your body is acting as a common ground? Not sure

Is it a circuit that you have to solder yourself? If so then chances are you have a bad connection somewhere

I have the book but haven't built the headbot.  Seeing as the entire circuit is built in classic beam deadbug style, I suspect you may have a bad solder joint.  I would gently test with a multimeter.

in my own experiences i had a problem with bridged connections, so check how it is all connected with a multimeter with continuity.

PS
also check if your photodiodes are oriented

I probably should have asked another question here too >_<

Define "works". Does it only turn on when you jostle the power line? or does it just not move around and stuff?
Perhaps you could give a specific breakdown of whats happening?
