Radio remote connected to H Bridge or Servo ?
« on: June 16, 2009, 05:57:29 PM »
My robot is using a radio remote to control movement and a few other "fun tricks".   I know I can use servos to drive the motors but that would be too easy.

Can the output from the remote receiver be directly connected to an H Bridge then to large DC motors?

I'm not sure what the output is from the receiver (servo square wave?).

The other option I think is to use a "servo signal to analog signal converter circuit" and connect it to my AXON and use PWM.

I would be happy to use the servos if they are stong enough,  My robot could be up to 3lbs.  I don't need anything more than walking speed.

Some of the servos I have looked at seem to have a lot of torque, should I just modify them and save myself the hassle?

What you need is not simply an h-bridge but an ESC (electronic speed control) these devices are designed for rc and take the servo input to drive dc motors.
