Barrier and Thruster

I am new to the forum and i have recently been given a project to build a robot to compete in a competition.  I am having trouble figuring out how to make a barrier that my robot can shoot off at the start of the round to cover up a bowling ball sized hole.  I then need the robot to be able to detach from the barrier and be able to manuever around to perform other tasks.  The barrier problem is my main concern.  I have 3 small motors and 20 rubberbands.  It is very important to know that the 20 rubberbands are the ONLY PRELOADED ENERGY THAT MAY BE USED.  If spring energy is to be used, you cannot load the spring, place it in the bot, then use that energy.  If you want to use spring energy, your bot must compress the spring before the round begins and then use the energy.  Any helpful advise would be greatly appreciated!

A drawing or two would help.

So will specs on the motors (and on the rubber bands).

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

Then I'm cornfused.  If the rubberbands are the only preloaded energy that may be used, then why do they give you motors.  Motors require batteries to run, which is a form of potential (preloaded) energy.
